Amherst is home to several institutions of higher education, including the Amherst campus of the University at Buffalo, the graduate campus of Medaille College, and Daemen College. A small section of the Erie Canal borders the town. Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital is in the center of town. Williamsville is home of Eastern Hills Mall, one of the largest in the region. This is a town of many cultural resources, such as the Amherst Museum, the Amherst Symphony, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Buffalo and the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier.
Local Museums/Landmarks
The Amherst Museum is a historic house museum dedicated to preserving the history of the town of Amherst. The museum is also known as the Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village. Williamsville has several sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the former Reformed Mennonite Church and the Williamsville Water Mill Complex.
