Welcome to North Collins, NY

Overview

North Collins is a town in southern Erie County, bordered to the north by Eden and Boston, to the east by Concord, to the south by Collins and to the west by Brant. The town includes a village also named North Collins (in the northwest part of town), as well as several hamlets. Eighteen Mile Creek, a popular fishing spot, flows through town. Franklin Gulf County Park is in the north part of town. North Collins is one of the least-populated towns in the county, with a population of about 3,500.

Essentials

Residents here have to take a short drive for most shopping needs. For groceries, Tops Friendly Markets has two stores in Hamburg (11 miles northeast). The closest Wegmans supermarket is on McKinley Parkway in Blasdell, about 15 miles northeast of North Collins. For retail shopping, the McKinley Mall in Hamburg has a variety of stores, including Sears, JC Penney, and Macy’s.

Recreation & Entertainment

Outdoor activities, such as fishing, hunting and snowmobiling, are popular in this wide-open town. Nearby Hamburg has a number of attractions: the casino at the Hamburg Fairgrounds attracts gamblers from all over, and the Erie County Fair, held in August, is among the larger county fairs in the country.

Transportation & Traffic

Route 62 runs north-south through North Collins. Route 249 runs east-west through the town.

Pros & Cons

This town has plenty of wide-open spaces, including a county park. Outdoor activities and small-town living are the draw here, although you’re close to Hamburg, which has several popular attractions, and not far from Orchard Park, home of the NFL Buffalo Bills.
