Welcome to Collins, NY


Collins is a town on the southern end of Erie County, bordered to the north by the town of North Collins, to the east by Concord, to the south by Cattaraugus Creek and Cattaraugus County, and to the west by Brant. The town has about 6,600 residents.


For grocery shopping, there’s a Tops Friendly Markets store on Route 219 in the village of Springville, about 10 miles east. The closest Wegmans supermarket is on McKinley Boulevard in Blasdell, about 23 miles north. 

Recreation & Entertainment

This is a wide-open town where outdoor activities are the main forms of entertainment. The Hollywood Happening in Gowanda is a well-known annual event that attracts motorcyclists from all over and includes plenty of beer tents and live music. 

Transportation & Traffic

Route 39 heads east-west through Collins, where it’s known as Main Street. Route 62 is the main north-south highway and is on the western edge of town.

Pros & Cons

This is a wide-open, rural town where fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities are the main attraction. The annual motorcycle event attracts thousands of visitors. Collins has two medium-security prisons, which might concern some people. The village of Gowanda suffered heavy damage in a 2009 flood, which led to the closing of a local hospital.
